North Miami Middle/High School

The North Miami cross country teams took part in the Eastbrook Invitational held on Taylor University's course. All runners had season best times! In the middle school race, eighth grader Taylor Starkey finished in 29th place overall out of 124 girls, finishing with a time of 13:23—over a minute faster than last year's time at this race! Senior Nik Augustyn competed in his first cross country race EVER! Nik finished in 26:56, and we are proud of him for trying something new this year! Expect to see his times drop throughout the rest of the season! All of the Lady Warriors improved their times from last week on the girls' varsity race. The weather was fantastic, and times were fast. Senior Leah Miller improved on last year's time by over 4 minutes! With a quick start and a strong finish, Leah finished with a time of 27:33. Sophomore Leah Shafer had a strong performance! Starting with a strong first mile and a steady effort, Leah (22:30, 66th place) improved from last week's race by over 30 seconds and ran over three minutes faster than last year's race! Freshman Sydney Lane ran a much-improved race this week, finishing the race in 25:28. She is improving with each workout, and we are excited to see her grow as high school runner!
